About Us

For over 10 years, Park Voyagers is a free, innovative program developed and operated collaboratively by Museums In the Park (MIP) and the Chicago Park District (CPD). It is designed to provide Chicago youth with experiential, educational enrichment in informal settings. Our goal is to awaken and encourage curiosity in children, enhance their natural ability to observe and experiment , nurture their innate capacity for creative problem-solving, and equip them for full participation in the civic and cultural life of the City of Chicago.

The entire program has four phases that range from neighborhood-based after-school and evening workshops to facilitated museum visits. Phase I is targeted towards kids aged 8 – 10. The remaining three phases include parents and siblings — and it all culminates with year-long museum memberships for each participating family.

Prior participants have voiced their appreciation that the program accommodates a wide range of ages and provides families time to work and learn together. They also like how the program expands their “world view” – exposing them to different cultures, ideas and places.
